ABOUT CAPODIMONTE
The name Capodimonte (Top Of The Hill) is mainly tied to the city of Naples and, particularly, to the kingdom of Charles III of Bourbon who, in 1743, built a factory to produce porcelain on the hill near to the royal palace, just called Capodimonte. Thus, the Capodimonte style began in 1743. It has been subject to many variations. At first, baroque scenes, often of mythological origin, represented it. After 1855, subjects had a rococo style and shortly thereafter, folk figures were popular. It is this last characteristic that became widespread and typified the Italian rural society of the time. The climate of that generation, full of candor and romanticism, is kept in tact in Giuseppe Armani's interpretations of the Capodimonte style. Expressions are extremely communicative and the relaxed postures give the general feeling of serenity and fulfillment. The prestigious Capodimonte style is carried forward and expressed with renewed vigor. It features soft moments and a unique sense of geometry. The inspiration of Giuseppe's world famous Capodimonte sculptures are drawn from everyday life and great subjects dealt with by masters of the past. Few artists have achieved the same international recognition for quality, design originality, attention to details, and towering craftsmanship. |
